Beautiful collar buttons.Intaglio depicts what I believe is Ares, the Olympian God of War.Deep aubergine (red family,not black)Sardonyx hard stone in rose gold filled.They appear to have a horse shoe shape.They measure 19mm by 17mm wide.Or, 3/4″ long by 5/8″ wide.The Sardonyx is pristine with no flea bites,cracks or chips.

Dated & hallmarked 1883 PAT S &P for Simmons & Paye.Predessors to PAYE & BAKER MFG. Co.The mechanism are in perfect working condition. 1830 ended the Georgian era.1887 began Victorian age with the Queen’s crowning.
